What's that old saying? All good things come in pairs. First came news of Portland's mayor Sam Adams finally admitting to a sordid tryst with a child. The other shoe dropped with news of another equally HIGH PROFILE bust; this time it was Atlanta gay nightlife photographer Gary Salles, who is facing charges of running a child porn ring and selling meth.
Before any moral-relativists out there start tying themselves into semantic knots about consent, technicalities or talk of private lives and argue that any comparison of Adams to Salles willfully neglects basic facts about each sex scandal, let me disabuse you of any doubts that I appreciate the differences underneath the superficial similarities of two very attractive silver-haired men who held positions of power: YES, there's a difference between "a criminal investigation looking into the possibility that Adams had sex with a minor [1]" and Salles being caught in the act of his transgression "through a closed circuit TV [2]" set up by officers — mainly that it should be obvious to ANYONE who deserves more respect for sparing us all of their CRASS and PHONY martyrdom.
There's also the integral but nonetheless different roles that MySpace played in each case. A closer look into how, after the jump...
(N.B. Don't even think of suggesting that it was inappropriate for Adams to be engaged in the supposedly platonic relationship in the first place, because that would be MISSING THE POINT, you see.)
Garry Salles on the other hand, still has his profile set to public. Here's what's listed under the General Interests heading:
Maybe he'll have better luck in the Blurbs section of his profile:
"Navigate thru uncharted waters"? Huh? "Just old enough to have known what was going on at Stonewall"? Isn't anyone who can read old enough to have known what went on there? Not to mention the most skin-crawling part of all: so much [sic]!

Isn't that the guy from "The Visitor"?
Gsalles "interests" are LOL.
And Bmad that's mean! I <3 Richard Jenkins!
duh, he's bi-sexual. he'll buy anything once? which includes men and boys? because they're fungible commodities? at least twinks are?
I'm from Atlanta, GA and I was Gary Salles room mate. Let me say one thing. He was a very creppy, short, fat man. Who kept trying to get me interested in his gay porn collection he had on his computer. I never would look at it. He was a nasty, disgusting man. I moved in with him on May 08 and was out by June 08. Gary was a big time fraud. He had no money, no car and was in deep shit with his drug dealer. He tried to get people to call him Rocky. No one did. I'm glad he fucked up and is were he is today. As Carlos Mencia would say, Good ridance to the "dee dee dee" that he was.
